# Aaron Washington's priorities for San Clemente

## 1. Save Our Beaches & Coastline

It is critical to act now, since grants requested today can take several years before funding becomes available. Aaron opposes any tax increases. He is mindful of the impact on retirees and residents on fixed incomes, and will push to leverage financial support from the State, County, OCTA, and the Department of Defense — partners who share a vested interest in keeping our rail corridor open and our beaches protected.

## 2. Public Safety

Keep our community safe, protect our quality of life, and ensure responsible stewardship of taxpayer dollars. Aaron will advocate for fully funding our police, fire, emergency response, and environmental services, and will support local businesses and responsible economic growth that strengthens our community without sacrificing its character.

## 3. Coastal Rail Resiliency

Our corridor is a huge issue. Aaron will stay closely connected and work with the County, State, and OCTA to develop resolutions that actually work for San Clemente.

## 4. Protecting Against Toxic Pesticides

Aaron will stay aware of the toxic pesticide issues affecting our neighboring city of Ladera Ranch, and ensure measures remain in place to prevent these health hazards from reaching our community. He supports suspending all toxic pesticide use in San Clemente that causes harm to our children and animals.

## 5. Prima Deshecha Landfill

Aaron will push back on the increased tonnage of waste being brought to Prima Deshecha Landfill — a major concern for Talega and Forster Ranch residents.

## 6. Preserving the Spanish Village by the Sea

Aaron will work to preserve San Clemente's unique heritage by supporting thoughtful planning and opposing over-development that threatens the character of our community.

## 7. Government Transparency

If elected, Aaron will work to improve transparency by making city information more accessible, encouraging clearer explanations of major proposals and spending decisions, and providing regular updates on important projects and Council actions. Residents deserve meaningful opportunities to ask questions and give input before decisions are finalized. Ultimately, transparency isn't just about putting information online — it's about building trust. Residents shouldn't have to be an insider or know where to look to understand what their city government is doing.
